Professional Development Using Videos

Annenberg Learner funds and distributed educational videos that are free for use in K-12 schools. There are classroom videos as well as professional development videos.

I spent most of my career in small school with small budgets. This meant that it often wasn’t possible to get the latest name in professional development to come to our school. In the absence of this face-to-face, on-site PD, I found lots of great resources online. It’s possible to create a community of learners within a school by using online resources.

Annenberg Learner provides professional development videos and guides for arts, education, language arts, maths, science, social studies, history and world languages. All the resources are searchable by grade level and subject area so that you can narrow down the results.

Although some of the resources are quite old, they can form a good starting point for conversations or as prompts to encourage teacher learning. Neuroscience fascinates me. I think it’s important for teachers to understand how the brain works and how brain development affects learning at different age levels.

Happy Learning!
