ITPD

Schools have shifted their focus from technology access to professional development for technology integration. Various members of the school community may be responsible for planning and implementing this professional development. Given the inadequacy of professional development funds, it is crucial to optimize the return on investment of resources placed into professional development. The components of effective professional development for technology integration can be used by those responsible for organizing and implementing professional development to evaluate opportunities that they are considering.

The Six Components of PD for Effective Technology Integration

In order to facilitate the process of evaluation of professional development, I have created three handouts. Handout one (Explanation of Components of Effective Professional Development for Technology Integration) explains the components of effective professional development for technology integration, with appropriate references. Handout two (Components of Effective PD for Technology Integration) gives suggestions of actions that a presenter can incorporate into the design of professional development to address all components of effective professional development. Handout three is a guiding document (Judging PD) that educators can use to evaluate professional development activities using a series of questions aligned to the six components of effective professional development.

This presentation on Technology Integration is very important for teachers. PD on this topic certainly is needed for teachers who are required to use technology in their curriculum delivery but do not have the skills to do so. Very nicely done.

Hi Damianne, great work and I will be showing your work to my school (with credit going to you, of course). I was hoping that you would help me by offering your work and expertise by joining the site http://www.iteachoverseas.com. It's a professional networking site solely for teachers overseas. There is a group there for directors of Technology/Coordinators.

    Cheers
